JOURNALISM WEEK
7:44 AM
It's been more than a month since my first day at the university started. So far, it's been pretty great. I've been surrounded with such wonderful, smart and creative people. I've
grown close to some of them and still trying to get to know the rest, since we're 59 and counting in our class. I've been enjoying our lunch times, chats, texts and jokes for the past month.

Last Wednesday was our dance presentation for the opening of College Of Communication week. It was a contest and a certificate was given to the winners. I volunteered to be one of the dancers particularly, modern dance. Our presentation consisted of 3 dances: ethnic, modern and festive. I wanted to maximize my experience in my first year since I didn't join any organizations.
Unlike my grade school and high school days, this time I found myself being confident in what I do. Since I've been to the uni, I've been showered with compliments which was what my ego needed.
For our group, our costume was:
-a camouflage shirt which we bought in a flea market.
-shorts
-sneakers, in my case I wore rubber shoes because all of my sneakers clashed colors with my shirt.
-we also needed to have red lips and cat-eye liner
-a part of our hair were sprayed with silver colored hairspray
-green and black face paint

There was a parade before the program. Chants were shouted. Ours were, "Viva! Viva! Viva Journalism!"
My last minute duty was to raise the star. Which I did quite well. |
Although I, myself felt insecure with the other class' presentation and costume. They went all out while ours were just simple. Rumor has it that some of them spent thousands of pesos for production. A class also rented a kalesa, in which I thought was extravagant and dedicated.
In the end we didn't win but we had TONS of fun in practicing, making props and getting ready for the contest. This event has helped us bond as a class which is such a great idea because we needed to work together to get things done. When I watched the video of our dance, it wasn't even bad and in fact it awesome. Our bodies looked so cool synchronized.
